PWCC COMMITTEES

Programs

The Programs Committee is responsible for securing speakers for PWCC’s monthly luncheons. To this end, the Programs Committee:

  • Reviews speakers from a cross-section of industry sectors

  • Reviews speaker and topic suggestions for monthly luncheons

  • Maintains relationship with speakers throughout the year, and

  • Works with the Media Relations Committee to ensure that all logistical & technical requirements are satisfied

Committee Member Criteria:

  • Brainstorming potential speakers

  • Using existing relationships (professional and personal) to network to potential speakers

  • Act as a hostess for several of the speakers prior to, and during the luncheon

  • Obtain biographical and program information as well as coordinate any special technology needs for the speaker

  • Act as a chaperone to the speaker at the luncheon

Hospitality

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for ensuring that new and existing members are welcomed and integrated into the PWCC community. 

To this end, the Hospitality committee:

  • Facilitates introductions between new and existing members by identifying members with similar interests

  • Works with the monthly luncheon vendors to coordinate food, room set-up, etc.

  • Hosts monthly New Member Meet and Greet events before each luncheon

  • Serves as Table Facilitators at monthly luncheons

  • Presents the Board with ideas to facilitate networking at luncheons

Committee Member Criteria:

  • Outgoing personality – we are the club’s hostesses

  • Ability to arrive at events ½ hour early to greet members and guests and to assist with networking connections

  • Attendance at 2 – 4 committee meetings per year

  • If you are short on time, this committee may be for you as it requires the least amount of “outside work”

Membership

The Membership Committee is responsible for retaining existing members and recruiting new members.

To this end, the Membership Committee:

  • Provides prospective members with membership information

  • Communicates member benefits

  • Works on initiatives to enhance member satisfaction

  • Undertakes several strategic membership initiatives each year to improve the member experience

  • Staffs the membership information table at each monthly luncheon

Committee Member Criteria:

  • Willing to and enjoys making personal outreach to guests and existing members 

  • Participates actively on at least one sub-committee and serves as a sub-committee co-chair

  • Familiarity with membership requirements 

  • Willingness to contribute a point of view in making committee decisions

    Communications/Media Relations

    The Communications/Media Relations Committee is responsible for ensuring all media and communication materials distributed by PWCC conform to brand standards.

    To this end, the Communications Committee:

    • Approves and/or drafts press releases and other written materials about PWCC
    • Manages content and design of PWCC’s website
    • Develops, writes, edits, and designs a variety of materials, including web site contact, marketing brochures, membership recruitment materials, and speaker packets
    • Approves and/or drafts speaker biographies
    • Remains knowledgeable of communication/media trends and reports these trends to the Board
    • Provides editorial feedback on communications developed by other committees and PWCC administration
    • Prepares Press Releases as needed

    Committee Member Criteria:

    •  Experience with marketing, PR, or advertising

    •  Writing or blogging skills

    •  Social media savvy

    •  Able to meet or exceed dealines

    •  Ability to work with tight turn-around times on editing, writing and reviewing

    Corporate Sponsorship

    The Corporate Sponsorship Committee's goal is to create and grow funding sources and foster strategic partnerships so PWCC can effectively fulfill its Vision and Mission to serve its membership.

    Responsibilities include leading the recruitment and retention of both individual and corporate sponsors for partnership opportunities with Chicago-area businesses. 

    To this end, the Corporate Sponsorship Committee is the fund-raising arm of the PWCC by:

    •  Meeting 10 times per year, to discuss strategies for soliciting and stewarding corporate sponsors

    •  Leveraging existing and new member relationships to secure financial contributions from local businesses

    •  Identifying sources of funding that are compatible with PWCC’s Vision and Mission

    •  Assuring periodic communication with sponsors to give them appropriate exposure and recognition commensurate with the level of sponsorship

    • Planning and implementing the annual sponsor thank you and recognition events

    • Promoting PWCC within the Chicago business community

    • Explaining the various contribution levels and corresponding corporate benefits

    Committee Member Criteria:

    • A desire to build long-term relationships with Club sponsors

    • Goal-oriented and enthusiastic about PWCC

    • Sales or marketing background is helpful

    • Understanding of the sponsorship levels and how each work

    • Enthusiastic in developing new relationships outside of PWCC

    Special Events

    Special Events Committee (SEC) Mission Statement
    The SEC’s mission is to generate ideas and implements networking events to enhance members’ experience and grow membership.

    To this end, the SEC:

    • Plans networking and enriching events including selecting menu, entertainment, and theme
    • Identifies venues that will maximize experience and attendance
    • Aggressively publicizes events in conjunction with Communications committee
    • Plans a variety of events to give members additional networking opportunities that accommodates their schedules and locations i.e. morning, evening, inner city, and neighborhood centric

     Desired Committee Member Qualifications

    • Detail oriented, responsible, and organized with event planning experience
    • Can contribute constructive opinions and a point of view in making committee decisions
    • Socially outgoing, friendly, and a good communicator
    • Creative and out of the box thinker
    • Willing and able to participate in meetings and events

     

    Committee Overview


    We desire to have uniformity and requirements for the committee without making it too burdensome, as we realize everyone is busy and this is volunteer-based work. Therefore, we require a minimal level of participation as follows:

    • Must attend at least 8 out of the 10 committee meetings per (PWCC) year
    • New members may be recommended by committee members and will be interviewed and approved by SEC co-chairs
    • The committee will consist of a maximum of 16 members
    • Committee positions will run the duration of the PWCC season (September – June), per board guidelines

    Community Alliance 

    The Community Alliance Committee's (CAC) mission is to recommend and implement outreach based on PWCC’s values of providing networking connections that support, enrich, and inspire women to advance professionally and personally.

    To this end, the CAC:

    • Works to build awareness of the PWCC through the involvement and support of other
      organizations who bring value to our membership
    • Collaborates with other women’s groups supporting the community to educate/inform PWCC of critical women’s issues meant to enhance and inspire i.e calendar, panel discussion, lectures
    • Promotes an environment of mutual respect within the PWCC organization
    • Fosters further participation in community events outside of CAC activities

    Committee Member Criteria:

    • Active in community events

    • Engaged socially or professionally

    • Willing to contribute a point of view in making committee decisions

    • Authentic and comfortable delivering both good and bad news

    • Broad knowledge of organizations and how they work
